Both films rated: 2.5 / 5 These types of movies suffer from the exact same problem, at least as far as my personal enjoyment goes. They're both about a socially awkward guy, bordering on crazy, who has talent to some degree; more-so in Magic, since the guy is as good a magician as he is … Continue reading Magic (1978) and Pin (1988) brief thoughts

Top Gun: Maverick (2022) thoughts
Ignore the incorrect release date. Rated: 3.5 / 5 Wokeness: 2.5 / 5 I thought it would be another 5-8 years before films of this quality started coming out again. Films with honest-to-God effort behind them. Sure that effort isn't seen in the story or character department, at least beyond my standards of B-movie fare; … Continue reading Top Gun: Maverick (2022) thoughts
Rant on insults and death-wishes; plus thoughts on Oh! / Ah! My Goddess!
Introduction that you can skip if you just want the anime review. So I've received some interesting responses to a few prior blog posts I made over the years. In particular, posts I made regarding the holocaust and pedophilia (if you want a taste of both, go play Barbarossa). The type of responses I do … Continue reading Rant on insults and death-wishes; plus thoughts on Oh! / Ah! My Goddess!
Spontaneous Combustion (1990) brief thoughts
Rated: 2.5 / 5 So there was studio meddling with this film. A rough cut exists that's, well, rough. Unfinished special effects, not all shots are in it that should be (a few of which made it into the theatrical cut), but it is a more cohesive vision. In particular, the film clearly becomes something … Continue reading Spontaneous Combustion (1990) brief thoughts
Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off (2022) thoughts
Rated: 4 / 5 My first experience with skateboarding was primarily watching other people doing it, seeing videos of it, or playing videogames on it. Never really tried it myself (I'm not an adrenaline junkie, not like that). Tony Hawk Pro Skater (PS1, 1999) was the big game that the friends of my time (my … Continue reading Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off (2022) thoughts
Dune (2021) thoughts
Rated: 2 / 5 Wokeness: 3 / 5 It was bound to happen sooner or later. As much as I knew I was going to be in for disappointment with the 2021 Dune film, despite what others have said (I stopped trusting them a while ago), I knew I was eventually going to break down … Continue reading Dune (2021) thoughts
No Country for Old Men (2007), thoughts
Rated: 3 / 5 It's alright. I laugh myself sometimes. Ain't a lot else you can do.Ed Tom Bell Nihilism is what many say about the themes of this film. That there is no rhyme or reason to many things. It's just chaos. Things just happen. Concepts of fairness and justice are social constructs that … Continue reading No Country for Old Men (2007), thoughts
The Hunted (2003) review
The tagline is hilarious, because the alternate one is, "Some men should not be found." But it could be worse, like, "If you're it... you're dead!" Rated: 3.5 / 5 One of the most underrated movies out there. I honestly don't get the hate people have for this. The hatred isn't because the camerawork is … Continue reading The Hunted (2003) review
Entertainment Industry Nostalgia: March 1993
Authorities near Waco, Texas, negotiate (unsuccessfully) with Branch Davidians. Katharine Hepburn admitted to hospital suffering from exhaustion. Diff'rent Strokes actor Todd Bridges arrested for stabbing a tenant. Blizzard of '93 hits north-east USA. US Supreme Court Justice Byron R White announced plans to retire. IRA-bomb kills 3 year old in Warrington, England. Pope John Paul II beatifies Duns … Continue reading Entertainment Industry Nostalgia: March 1993
Once in a Lifetime (2020?) review
Have you ever wanted to play a game where you get to bang your step-sisters, your step-mother, your teacher, a rich bitch, your step-sister's best friend, and a female ninja (sometimes in a threesome)? If not, then this game might change your mind. Rated: 3.5 / 5 Wokeness: 1/5 https://dwu32cgxelq1c.cloudfront.net/local_newspapers/sites/113/2016/05/WARNING.jpg In case you are wondering, … Continue reading Once in a Lifetime (2020?) review
